Positive Focus lands 'Africa's first' XMPie install
remata building

Positive Focus has completed what it believes is the first major XMPie installation in the African continent..

The personalisation software was installed at Remata iNathi in Midrand, South Africa. The tool will allow the printer to print variable-data jobs on its HP Indigo and Kodak NexPress kit.

UK-based supplier Positive Focus has worked closely with XMPie for the past four years and secured the deal after a previous client recommended it to the South African print firm.

Positive Focus managing director Ivor Dixon told printweek.com: "We were recommended to them when their representatives were visiting the UK in search of a company to carry out the work."

The XMPie deal is thought to be the first in the region. Dixon added: "As far as we know and through speaking to XMPie, there are no others, in South Africa at least."

This is also one of the world's first installations of version 3.5 of XMPie's database software PersonalEffect.

XMPie's entire product range has recently been updated and is now compatible with Adobe CS3.

Positive Focus will demonstrate the latest versions of uDirect, PersonalEffect, uImage and uStore on Stand 426 at Digital Print World, Earls Court 2, London on 16-18 October 2007.
