Serendipity Software Ipex Showcase

Birmingham, England - April 4th to April 11th 2006 - Serendipity Software will be showcasing
the latest innovations at Ipex 2006 on their stand A33 in Hall 9. Centre stage will be Serendipity
Blackmagic V3.2 running on a Apple Mac G5 showing Press Ready Softproofing technology
on a 30 inch display. Full press pages can be checked on screen for data integrity and
colour matching prior to press. Press operators can use the SoftProof as match for the final
output. Fully imposed pages can be de-imposed to produce a book on a duplex printer, as a
PDF or as a QuickTime movie. All popular imposition packages are supported allowing the
user to import the signatures quickly and efficiently. Colour management is done through industry
standard ICC and the latest version supports V4.2 ICC and device link profiles.

The powerful SoftProof application allows the user to change plates, zoom, crop and submit,
all in high res. Paper background and digital blue lines are easily displayed on the fly. Signatures
can be overlaid on the image for positional and page checking. Industry first “reverse
page viewing” allows the back page to be viewed through the top page for inking and alignment
checks. The user can vary the transparency of this show through page.

Serendipity Clustering technology means that proofing is no longer the bottleneck is once
was. Jobs can be shared across the network and processed on other machines called Slaves
which are managed easily and seamlessly by the Master. Serendipity Clients can be run on any
machine on the network for easy monitoring and administration. These can be local or remote.

Also on show will be Serendipity Megarip which is ideal for Sign and Poster display market. A
fast RIP supporting PDF, PS, TIFF and Jpeg with direct output to most wide format devices.
Features such as the ability to nest jobs onto a single sheet and the same powerful SoftProof
used in Serendipity Blackmagic make this an unbeatable product.

Finally on show is Serendipity Screenprint which produces film separations from inkjet devices
for the screen printing industry. This has all the same features as Serendipity Megarip which
includes the ability to screen 8 special plates at different angles.

Visit the stand for a demonstration of all the features in any of the products mentioned. Have a
look at the latest version of Serendipity Blackmagic V3.2.01 and Serendipity Megarip V4.2.01
which now support Intel Core Duo Mac as a Universal Application. Experts will be on hand answer
any of your questions.

NEW 3D Flipbook Proofing Technology

Serendipity Blackmagic's new 3D FlipBook Technology allows the end user to compile and view a Virtual publication in the correct page sequence. This new technology allows the end user to quickly see a colour accurate final imposed job, without performing a duplex Form Proof , saving considerable time, labour and materials.

The collation of the publication is derived from imposition templates used to impose the job. The user can also stop at any page with the option to display the complete rendered page. The individual separation channels can be turned on and off to check Page Number, Grips, Spreads, Black overprint issues etc.

High Resolution SoftProofing

Serendipity Blackmagic's new SoftProofing Technology allows the end user to view multiple pages or signature sections on the monitor simultaneously. A gallery of the pages is displayed at the bottom of the window allowing the user to instantly view thumbnails of the other deimposed pages within the signature. A simple click on the desired page number will then display the imaged or rendered preview. The user can scale the image to suit the screen, then call a floating loupe that provides closer examination of critical areas. The individual separations can be turned on and off to check trapping, overprint etc. The background paper colour selection can be created or selected to simulate the printing stock.
Loupe
Floating High Resolution Loupe
A floating HR loupe is useful for close examination of specific area's of the proof, within the rendered window. By simply moving the mouse around the screen the user moves a High Res Loupe displaying the job at 100%.
32 Page Web Section
This image shows a complete 32 Page Web Section. When utilising the Floating Navigation, Single, Double, or 4Page units can be displayed in seconds.
Reverse Page Viewing
By utilising the reverse page viewing option you are able to see the reversed side of the rendered image. In conjuction with the high res loupe, this feature is extremely efficient. You are able to spot the errors in the Pre-Press. Note that in the image above the page lines do not line up, leaving adjustments to be made by the user.

De-Impose Duplex Printing

Serendipity Blackmagic's new deimpose / duplex module, provides a fast and accurate method of creating a complete working print dummy from the early stage of the design & layout concept/approval or from the final post ripped data prior to imaging to film or plate.

Serendipity Blackmagic ensures that any mistakes of page folio numbers, split page image alignments and bleeds can be identified quickly for both Saddle Stitch & Perfect Bound Binding.

Even missing elements such as fonts, images and text re-flow issues or wrongly placed images and ads can be quickly identified saving valuable time within the workflow of today's modern CTP systems.

Simultaneous: Spooling, Imaging, Rendering, Outputting
Simultanius: Spooling, Imaging, Rendering, Outputting
De-Impose Duplex PDF Mode
The PFD output driver also supports the duplex mode. This allows complete jobs or imposition sections to be de-imposed, viewed and printed in reader spreads via the latest version of Acrobat Reader. The resolution, compression ratios and ICC colour management for both screen and printer can be controlled when generating the pdf.

Slug Line Confirmation for Page Positioning
The slug line information confirms that the correct page and folio number have been imposed into the correct signature template.
