Technical Support Specialist - Software
Being successful has it's drawbacks - our team are now too
busy, so we have an immediate vacancy for a Technical support
specialist, reporting to our Technical Director.
If you
have direct experience of the graphics and printing industry
and its software requirements, and wish to join a small team
to push the technology we supply to its limits, then you should
be talking to us.
Positive
Focus are an established software distributor and value added
reseller servicing the print industry, and handling a range
of leading-edge products with applications in Imposition and
layout, file handling and process automation, PDF generation
and manipulation and variable data printing, catalogue and
directory production, multi-channel publishing and e-marketing.
You will
be expected to create, design and implement appropriate solutions
for use by our customers and their clients, and to be able
to train the respective personnel in their use. The right
candidate will be well organised and client-focused, with
a positive attitude and good people skills, also having the
ability and motivation to ensure a high level of customer
service at all times. Good written and spoken English and
competent numeracy is essential.
Familiarity
with the graphics, advertising and print industry we would
consider essential, together with up to date, practical knowledge
of the graphics packages and operating environments commonly
used. Additional technical requirements include a familiarity
with one or more scripting languages, AppleScript, VBScript
and particularly JavaScript, and with database platforms like
SQL Server or MySQL. The successful applicant will also have
web design skills with knowledge of advanced HTML, PHP, ASP,
Flash etc. and knowledge of .NET would be extremely useful.
In addition,
you must provide a comprehensive portfolio of work across
multiple channels, and have proven experience working in an
internal or externally facing support role.
We use
a wide range of technologies to deliver our support and training,
including web conferencing. Location within the UK is therefore
not a major issue, as our client base is throughout the UK
and Ireland, although regular visits to our Shepperton Technical
Centre will be required.
Salary
and total remuneration package negotiable according to experience
and qualifications. This is a permanent position, but we would
be prepared to consider applicants with appropriate skills
as shortterm contractors in the interim. Recent graduates
may apply for a trainee opportunity.
