LithoTechnics,
Inc., developer of Metrix, award-winning workflow
integration & automation software, announced today that Metrix
Server will be demonstrated for the first time at GraphExpo 2007
in Chicago.
Metrix is
used by job planners, estimators, and prepress operators to automatically
and dynamically calculate layouts for all kinds of commercial
print jobs. Metrix uses print industry specific algorithms and
a user-definable, best practice "standards" database
to turn print job descriptions into precise, production quality
layouts. The resulting imposition can be exported to prepress
as industry standard PDF or JDF, while the cutting, folding, or
binding information calculated by Metrix can be exported to the
finishing department as JDF or CIP3 data.
Rohan Holt,
President of LithoTechnics, described the importance of Metrix
Server this way: "Each time Metrix generates a new layout,
it can be saved by the operator as a "standard" layout.
Metrix automatically notes all the associated conditions - the
press, binding machine, job type and trim size, etc and then can
automatically apply these standards each time similar job specifications
and conditions are recognized. These user-defined, best practice
standards can be leveraged by Metrix Server to perform the job
planning automatically – without any human involvement at
all."
Holt continued,
"Many commercial printing companies print lots of standard
sized work and for them, Metrix Server could mean 90% of their
work may be planned and imposed without the need for any operator
intervention at all. The MIS will simply send the job data to
Metrix Server – and it will do the rest. This technology
will completely reshape the production planning department of
the 21st century printing company and bring the possibility of
"lights out" production automation one step closer."
