Preps 5.0 Loyalty Scheme Introduced
Existing users of Creo® Preps® can now benefit from a Loyalty Scheme when purchasing additional copies of the class leading imposition program. Positive Focus (www.positivefocus.co.uk), the UK distributor, is trialling the scheme for a limited period; allowing users with any version of Preps to purchase an additional copy at a price equivalent to that paid by anyone swapping from a competing application. This one-third reduction brings Preps Plus, normally £3,000, down to £1,950 + VAT.

Preps 5.0 introduced SmartMarks – marks that intelligently position themselves in relation to sheet size and page parameters and, with the ability to combine marks into groups, and add a complete set of marks with a single mouse click, template creation is now significantly quicker. Change the sheet size or the page details and the marks re-position automatically. Existing Preps users can obtain a temporary password from preps@positivefocus.co.uk to try version 5 for themselves.

Preps 5.0 supports PDF from Acrobat® 6.0, and files generated in Quark® XPress 6.0 and 6.1. Improved workflow support means Preps 5.0 is qualified for Brisque®, Prinergy®, including the new Prinergy Evo, Apogee® X, and Rampage®. It supports the latest JDF-enabled Harlequin® RIPs and includes JDF enhancements for workflows like Apogee X. Preps 5.0 is also fully compatible with templates created by Creo® Synapse® UpFront® and LithoTechnics Metrix®.

Upgrades are available from previous versions to obtain the new features. Version 4.x of Preps Pro or Plus for Mac or Windows can be upgraded for £747, or XL for £337 + VAT. Earlier version upgrades incur additional costs. Preps 5.0 for Macintosh is a native OSX-only version and ships with a blue cross platform USB dongle. To exchange from ADB, a purple Mac-only USB, or a Windows Parallel dongle is £112 + VAT.
